Customizing your old wood floor is easier, and more affordable, than ever before. You can create a one-of-a-kind look with simple upgrades such as borders, medallions hand-distressing, mixed media and exotic wood species.
Borders
Borders create a frame effect at the perimiter of an area or room, and usually consist of a differant species of wood to the main floor area. The possibilities are not limited to wood only. Borders can incorporate multiple wood species, stone, marble, brass, stainless steel, nickel and other metals. They can be installed in any floor, old or new.
Exotic Wood
Exotic wood species are available in a variety of colors and can add an entirely new look to any room. The parquet floor pictured here was custom made by Timberline Hardwood and incorperates Brazilian Cherry, American Walnut, Santos Mahogany, and Red Oak.

Hand-Distressing
Hand-Distressed wood floors offer a unique look and antiqued appearance that appeals to many home owners today. Hand-scraping, which is labor-intensive and time consuming, is the most-common distressing technique. Using various tools such as chisels, planes, wire brushes, awls, ice picks and scrapers, Timberline Floors will work with the wood to achieve a worn and distressed look. The end result will be a new floor that looks beautifully antiqued.
Stain
Existing wood floors can receive an entirely new look with custom stains colors, and at a fraction of the cost of a new hardwood floor. Light colored stains can give a contemporary look. For a more traditional look consider re-staining your wood floor to a warm, medium-toned color. Dark stained floors can give your décor a stately new look. No matter what your existing wood floor, chances are that you can achieve an entirely new look with custom stains.
Medallions
Medallions are usually installed in the main body of the floor, such as the foyer, dining room or powder room. Medallions incorporate multiple wood species, like brazillian cherry, purpleheart, Bubinga, Wenge, Poplar, Maple, Birch, Walnut, Mahogany, Padouk, and so on. Factory finished medallions can be routed into existing floors with minimal disruption. For more customized looks such as family crest or company logo Timberline Floors will work with you to select the species and colors that will best meet your needs.
